Luigi Michi

Luigi Michi was born in Italy in 1958 and graduated cum laude in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pisa in 1983. He has recently been appointed Senior Advisor at Key to Energy, a leading consultancy specializing in electricity and gas markets.

With over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, Luigi is a recognized expert in energy markets and complex electrical systems, actively contributing to the ongoing energy transition.

Until the end of 2019, he served as Head of Strategy, Development, and System Operation at Terna Spa, Italy’s Transmission System Operator, overseeing regulatory affairs, grid planning, market analysis, and dispatching. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Enel as Executive Vice President, Head of Energy Management, managing Italy’s generation portfolio and commodity trading in European markets.

Earlier in his career, Luigi worked in grid and power transmission (design, construction, and control) and spent time at ENI Group (1984-1987) focusing on turbogas power station design and turnkey project management.

He has furthered his expertise through executive programs at Columbia University, Harvard, and IESE.

Luigi is married with three children and enjoys photography and audio-visual projects in his leisure time.
